In order to appeal to prospective job seekers and highlight “middle-skill” jobs, the Greater Houston Partnership’s UpSkill Houston initiative needed a responsive website that exceeded their visual, operational, and functional criteria. The goal was to highlight the incentives for the 7 technical sectors and careers available to middle-skilled and trained professionals.
The challenge with this project is that we had to start from scratch. UpSkill Houston wanted to create a collective brand experience to help Houstonians learn about local industries and careers. In addition, they wanted to assist in the process of finding the right match and career pathway. It was critical to Upskill to raise awareness and outreach efforts that would position UpSkill as an influencer in Houston’s regional economy.
Just over a year ago, UpSkill Houston’s website went live. The website has since then has made incredible strides that include 1,432 hits, over 800 users, and 7,588 page views. UpSkill has placed numerous individuals in middle-skilled jobs and professions. They’ve also raised more interest from prospective workers about middle-skilled jobs.
