OBJECTIVES
The first, and most important, objective ASTOUNDZ identified for HMH was to retain all relevant search rankings and referral traffic for the website migration. As a second piece to their search engine optimization, ASTOUNDZ and HMH looked at how valuable Local Search is for visitors to find, get directions, and read reviews. Therefore, the team at ASTOUNDZ worked with third-party websites in updating HMH’s address across the web.
CHALLENGES
The key challenge for HMH’s website migration was going through to ensure no link or ranking that needed to be retained was lost. With tens of thousands of search rankings and close to 50,000 backlinks, there was a lot to comb through. While not every search ranking or backlink pointing to HMH’s website is relevant, every search ranking and backlink had the possibility of being relevant.
RESULTS
Holocaust Museum Houston was able to redirect highly relevant, traffic generating pages for their new website. ASTOUNDZ was able to step in and remediate the content removal by republishing and properly redirecting old URLs. As a result, HMH has been able to retain the previous website’s search rankings.
